Robin's Glass World
Meet the Maker
Welcome to Robin's Glass World
Hello! I'm Robin Hary, the proud owner and artisan behind Robin's Glass World.
With over 30 years of experience in stained glass artistry, I've dedicated myself to transforming everyday scenes into vibrant, colorful works of art. Originally a painter, I ventured into the world of stained glass seeking a fresh challenge, and it quickly became a lifelong passion.
My Craft and Expertise
I specialize in creating stunning suncatchers and windows, but my creative spirit knows no bounds. Recently, I've been exploring the fascinating realm of 3D effects in glasswork, pushing the limits of traditional design. Each piece is crafted from my own patterns, allowing me to tailor every creation to your specific desires.
My work is inspired by the beauty of nature and the world around us. I believe that every leaf, flower, and landscape holds a story, waiting to be told through the medium of glass. My artistic journey is driven by the pursuit of capturing that beauty in a form that brings light and joy into people's lives.
Inspiration and Personal Touch
One of my greatest inspirations was my beloved dog, Leben, who passed away on October 3rd, 2016. A simple photo of her sparked the idea for a suncatcher, which led me to design 175 unique dog breed patterns, with more being added each year. It's this personal connection and love for animals that brings a unique warmth to my work.
Artistic Techniques
I employ the foil method, commonly known as the Tiffany Method, which I find gives my pieces a more delicate and intricate appearance compared to the traditional leaded glass. While my stained glass windows aren't meant to replace existing windows, they are designed to be hung in front of them. This approach allows them to move with you wherever life takes you, ensuring that their vibrant beauty can always be part of your home.
Bringing Light to Life
In a world that can sometimes feel dark, my goal is to bring a splash of color and light into your life with the timeless elegance of stained glass.
Thank you for visiting Robin's Glass World. I look forward to creating something special just for you.
Warm regards,
Robin Hary
How it’s Made
I create in the timeless craftsmanship of the Tiffany Method (or the foil method as it's also called) with every piece meticulously fashioned from cut glass. Embracing the tradition of quality and safety, I exclusively utilize 60/40 solder, composed of 60% tin and 40% lead, ensuring a low lead content for your peace of mind.
For added durability and strength, suncatchers measuring 9 inches and larger are elegantly encased in lead, enhancing their resilience without compromising on aesthetic appeal. Rest assured, each creation is meticulously crafted with your safety in mind, guaranteeing harm-free handling and effortless maintenance. Comprehensive instructions for hanging and cleaning are thoughtfully included for your convenience.
Each piece is a testament to dedication and passion, requiring anywhere from one to two hours of meticulous attention to detail. Panels and wind chimes undergo an even lengthier process, sometimes spanning over 72 hours, ensuring every aspect is perfected to enchanting precision. From the initial cut of the glass to the final polish, every step is executed with care.
Each masterpiece proudly bears my signature engraving, ensuring a timeless connection to the artisan behind its creation. Alongside my name, the year of its inception is elegantly etched, serving as a poignant reminder of the moment you welcomed your unique piece of art glass into your home.
